Jean-Pierre Auffret
Jean-Pierre Auffret is the Director of the Technology Management Program at George Mason University. He has research and professional interests in the areas of technology innovation and management, national competitiveness, R&D policy, and telecommunications. Prior to joining George Mason, Dr. Auffret had over fifteen years experience in the global telecommunications industry most recently as a director with MCI and its joint venture with British Telecom, Concert. Dr. Auffret has a B.S. degree from Duke University, an M.B.A. from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in Physics from American University.

Clodagh Bassett
Clodagh Bassett is Program Manager of the Technology Management Program, George Mason University. As program manager Clodagh is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program from student recruitment to maintaining a close relationship with the program alumni. Since joining the university in January 2000 Clodagh has seen the program double in size and increase its retention rate to an average 98%. Clodagh is originally from Dublin, Ireland and has had the opportunity to travel extensively while living in Europe and Korea. She also had nine years of management experience in the medical arena.

Supriti Bhandary
Supriti Bhandary is the Head of Talent Engagement and Development, Americas, for Wipro Technologies. In this position, she is responsible for all human resources processes for Wipro's employees in USA and Canada. She has worked with Wipro for the last eleven years, based initially in Bangalore, India and more recently in New Jersey, USA. The positions she has held span across various areas in HR including Recruitment,
Training, Compensation & Benefits, and HRIS. Supriti holds a Master's degree in Human resources and a Bachelor's degree in Business Management.

Murugappan Chettiar
Murugappan Chettiar is a Program Manager for Automatic Data Processing (ADP). For the last 12 years, Mr. Chettiar’s primary focus has been on information technology projects across Engineering, Government and Service industries. He is responsible for migrating clients from legacy platforms to next generation products. This involves managing virtual teams across the country, coaching them on best practices, communication, and liaison with senior management for strategic alignment. Managing varied projects from purely technical to complex matrix organizations ranging from a few thousand dollars to a couple of million dollars has given him unique insights into managing in a multi-cultural environment. He has enjoyed planning, hands on work, and working along side American, European and Asian teams. Some of his important projects were Architecting Enterprise Wide Network, Disaster Recovery, eLearning and Global CRM rollout. As a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and active member of the Project Management Institute, Murugappan has kept abreast of the latest developments in strategic project management. He holds a Graduate Certificate and Graduate Degree in Project Management from Stevens Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Madras where he was a recipient of an Innovative Student Award.

Mahmoud Daneshmand
Mahmoud Daneshmand is a Technology Leader at the AT&T Labs Research, Director of University Collaborations, Affiliate Professor of the Wesley J. Howe School of Technology Management, and Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at the Stevens Institute of Technology. He has more than 25 years of teaching, research, and management experience in academia and industry including Bell Laboratories, AT&T Labs, and University of California at Berkeley, University of Texas at Austin, National University of Iran, New York University, and Stevens Institute of Technology.
Mahmoud is a recognized expert in Data Mining, Statistical Techniques, Risk Management, Quality and Reliability of IP-based services and applications. He has published more than 50 papers, authored/co-authored two books, co-edited the publication of the seventh IEEE proceedings on Computer and Communications, innovated and led execution of more than 30 large-scale projects, and made extensive contributions to the Standards and regulatory organizations including ITU, T1, and FCC. He has chaired international conferences, organized and led conference sessions and panels, and gave invited and keynotes talks. He founded and served as the Head of the Department of Statistics and Dean of the School of Informatics and Management Sciences of the National University of Iran. He has a Ph.D. and MA in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley and MS and BS in Mathematics from the University of Tehran. As a Technology Leader he supports the AT&T Labs Chief Scientist in the creation of a technology strategy for AT&T, and in understanding and articulating the effect of disruptive technologies on AT&T's Networks, Services, and Operations. As an executive Technology Leader with the AT&T Labs he has been responsible for innovation and execution of emerging computer and communications technologies supporting service quality, reliability, and security of IP-Based applications. He has led deployment of innovated technologies and taking them into operations and market place achieving business results. As director of University Collaborations, he plans, funds, and leads state-of-the art joint research projects between AT&T Labs and 12 top national and international universities. In collaborations with UCSD, he established Center for Networked Systems (CNS) at UCSD, an industry - academia partnership conducting research on technologies and foundations for robust, secure, and open networked systems of this century, and serves as member of the advisory board of the CNS. As an affiliate professor of the School of Technology Management he has developed and taught new graduate courses on two emerging areas of "Risk Management" and "Data Mining". As an adjunct professor of the Department of Computer Science has taught "Probability and Stochastic Processes" and "Data Mining & Knowledge Discovery", and advised graduate students projects and thesis. Prior to his current position of Technology Leader, he has been Technology Consultant and Principal Technical Staff Member of the AT&T Labs, and a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff of the Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies. He has served as a technology expert and statistical consultant in several litigation; designed and taught many graduate and undergraduate courses in areas of Data Mining, Sampling Techniques, Probability and Stochastic Processes, and Inferential Statistical Techniques; advised many masters and Ph.D dissertations; led more than 30 Data Mining case studies of graduate students working with corporations such as Lucent, Verizon, and Merck. He is the Founder of the School of Informatics and Management Sciences of the National University of Iran. He has served as Head of the Department of Statistics and Dean of the School of Informatics. He is the recipient of several distinguished awards from Bell Labs, AT&T Labs, Standards Committee T1, and IEEE.

Carlos Dominguez
Carlos Dominguez is Sr. Vice President, US Service Providers Sales, Cisco Systems, Inc. He has been with Cisco Systems, Inc. since 1992. During his tenure at Cisco he has held a number of pivotal positions in both the Enterprise and Service Provider Organization. Mr. Dominguez is currently the Sr. Vice President for the Service Provider Organization in the U.S. which focuses in the ILEC/RBOC, Cable, Emerging Carriers and the IXC Markets. In his current role Mr. Dominguez leads a team of over 1200 people and has revenue responsibilities in excess of 2 Billion annually. Prior to his current position he was the Vice President - US Network Service Provider Sales, a group that focused on new, emerging Service providers. Prior to his NSP role, Mr. Dominguez led the team responsible for the Enterprise line of Business in the Northeast USA and established Cisco in a number of strategic markets (Financial Services, Media, Government and Pharmaceuticals.) His leadership has contributed significantly to Cisco's phenomenal growth through the 1990's ($35M and 16 people in 1992 to over $20B and 35,000 employees as of 2001). Prior to Cisco, Mr. Dominguez held management positions at Timeplex, Inc., Woodcliff Lake, NJ and New Jersey Bell / Bell Atlanticom.,

Andres Fortino
Dr. Andres Fortino was appointed Dean of the AACSB-accredited School of Management at Marist College in 2004. Dr.Fortino brings to Marist a rich background in education both in the academic environment and in industry. Most recently he served as Associate Dean for Academic Development at George Mason University (www.gmu.edu). As an administrator and professor in GMU’s School of Management, Dr. Fortino pioneered a number of innovative programs including a master’s in bioscience management, a master’s in technology management, and an MBA for Northrop Grumman executives. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the City College of New York and received his PhD in electrical engineering from the City University of New York. Dr. Fortino has lectured extensively on technology worldwide and has led more than 180 high technology seminars for Learning Tree International (http://www.learningtree.com), a company specializing in worldwide hands-on training for management and technology professionals. He also worked for the IBM Corp. in its advanced technology division where he filed several patents and numerous invention disclosures and received IBM’s first invention level award for his work in semiconductor research.
Dr. Fortino is a member of the Academy of Management (http://www.aomonline.org), Senior Member of IEEE, Engineering Management Society (www.ieee.org), and is currently the president of the Technology Management Educational Association (www.tmeda.org). He is a Visiting Professional Fellow at Cambridge Fitzwilliam College and a Fulbright Senior Technical Specialist.
The author of seven books, Dr. Fortino has practiced the application of information technology to solving business problems for the past 30 years. His scholarship has also focused on information systems development, intellectual property management, data networks and the diffusion of innovation. His teaching has primarily centered on technology management, innovation, executive competency building, developing global awareness and alternative educational technologies applied to management education.

John Friar
John Friar, Associate Academic Specialist and Executive Professor, General Management Group. Northeastern University, has researched and written on the subjects of marketing strategy, management of innovation, and technology strategy, with emphases on radical innovations and start-up companies. An active consultant, he has special interest in the medical electronic, computer, and telecommunications industries. Professor Friar has been involved in the start-up of several companies and currently serves on the board of several others. He has held positions in planning, marketing, and finance at N.A. Philips Corp. and was a software engineer at Draper Laboratories. Professor Friar has also taught at Clark and Brandeis Universities, Melbourne University in Australia, and Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees in Paris. He holds a PhD from MIT's Sloan School of Management and MBA and AB degrees from Harvard University.

Allen Ginsberg
Allen S. Ginsberg is currently, Executive in Residence at Stevens Institute of Technology. He is a senior executive with extensive experience in pharmaceuticals, hospitals, academia and management consulting. Before joining Stevens, he was Vice President of an R&D division of a leading pharmaceutical company. He has proven accomplishments in: business management; development and implementation of quantitative management and information systems; globalization of clinical drug development; construction of major R&D facilities; advances in hospital management, clinical decision making methods, health care delivery systems and health care policy. He also has significant knowledge and experience in clinical medicine and in the use and evaluation of computer hardware and software.

Bernard Hanafin
Bernard “Ben” Hanafin, Principal, Carova Management, LLC, heads his own consulting business, Carova Management LLC. Carova Management specializes in executive coaching, strategic planning and interim executive management.--- the firm’s mission is to “grow businesses”. Prior to heading his own consulting business, Ben was President of PyMaH Corp., a $40MM (annual sales) international manufacturer of diagnostic medical devices that was started by his family. The company owned facilities in Flemington, NJ, North Hollywood, CA and the Republic of Ireland. PyMaH Corp grew through internal product development and acquisition. 3M Health Sciences Division acquired PyMaH Corp. in 1997. Ben currently serves on the board of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen, and the St. Peters Hospital Foundation, as well as several privately owned companies. Mel Horwitch
Mel Horwitch is Professor of Management, Chair of the Department of Management, Director of the Institute for Technology and Enterprise, and Founding Director of the Othmer Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies, at Polytechnic University. He was also elected as an Othmer Senior Faculty Fellow at Polytechnic. Previously he was Visiting Professor at London Business School, Professor and Founding Dean of Management at Theseus Institute in Sophia Antipolis, France, the John M. Olin Distinguished Fellow at Templeton College, Oxford University and Visiting Professor at the University of Paris-Dauphine. He is also Chair of the Technology Management Education Association [TMEDA]. He has also served on the faculties of the Sloan School at MIT and Harvard Business School. He received his AB from Princeton University and MBA and Doctorate from Harvard Business School, and was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand. Professor Horwitch has written extensively on innovation and technology strategy, particularly with reference to knowledge-intensive sectors, e.g. services, media, information technology, and telecommunications, global innovation, and the role of networks and multi-sector endeavors for developing technology. Most recently, Professor Horwitch is conducting a study of the impact of homeland security on US innovation and developing a new course on society-wide technology policy. His publications include Technology in the Modern Corporation: A Strategic Perspective (editor and contributor), Clipped Wings: The American SST Conflict, Energy Future: Report of the Energy Project at the Harvard Business School (contributor), articles published in such journals as Management Science, Policy Science, Sloan Management Review, Technology in Society, and Business Strategy International, and several print and Web-based multimedia cases.

Matthew W. Jones
Matthew W. Jones, is Senior Vice President, Leadership and Management Development, Marsh Inc. Dr. Jones joined Marsh in August of 2003. In his role, Dr. Jones supports global leadership and management development within the firm, with a specific focus on leadership assessment and development, executive coaching, talent management, performance management, competency modeling, and training needs assessment. Edward Lewis
Edward M. Lewis is Manager of Facilities Finance, Education & Library Services
At Lockheed Martin Manassas. He has worked for Lockheed Martin as an education manager for the past 10 years. Prior to his current assignment he managed software systems for IBM. In addition Mr. Lewis started his career as a software engineer. He received a B.S. in Economics from the University of Maryland and an M.S. in Adult Learning and Human Resource Development from Virginia Tech. Edward M. Lewis is a member of the Advisory Board of the School of Management at George Mason University. Mr. Lewis is a member of the American Society for Training and Development. He also serves on the Technology Management Education Association Board of Directors, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Prince William County Public Schools Education Foundation and is also a past president of the board. He also serves on the Prince William County Public Schools Vocational Education Curriculum Advisory Council, the Virginia Tech Alliance Committee, and the Prince William County Public Schools Superintendents Advisory Council. He is a past president and a current executive board member of the Century Club of George Mason University. He serves on the advisory council of the George Mason New Century College. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for the University of Northern Virginia. Mr. Lewis teaches a graduate course in Business Engineering and Change Management in the School of Management Technology Management program and an undergraduate course in Leadership and Change Management in the George Mason University New Century College. Mr. Lewis has received many community service awards and continues to do volunteer work in Prince William county.

Lex McCusker
Lex McCusker is the Dean of the Wesley J. Howe School of Technology Management at Stevens Institute of Technology. He had served as the Acting Dean of the school since May of 2005. He joined the Howe School as the Associate Dean for Administration in July of 2004. Dr. McCusker brings to the Howe School a long history of high-level technology management responsibilities and project oversight, principally in the field of telecommunications. He has broad experience and expertise in the fields of operations and logistics; general management and change management; strategic planning, analysis and implementation; and organizational development and communications.
Prior to joining Stevens in 2004, he served as Professional Services Vice President and General Manager at AT&T Laboratories. In this capacity, he oversaw day-to-day operations of the internal consulting practice of 450 high-power technical professionals, providing a wide range of consulting services to the organization, spanning data mining, database marketing and analysis, process monitoring/alerting, web development, multi-media services, information research services, software methods, prototyping, configuration management and market intelligence. At AT&T Labs, he also led a major new product realization initiative transitioning technology and inventions from R&D labs into potential profit-generating business units. He also built and managed a team charged to commercialize promising technology. This led to the successful start-up of a dynamic new business venture to commercialize AT&T’s Natural Voices™ text-to-speech technology. This effort gained for the company the reputation as world-class provider of speech technology and won the “2001 Technology of the Year” award from Frost and Sullivan. Prior to this position, McCusker served as General Manager at Lucent Technologies and served as Global Customer Services Re-Engineering Director at Phillips Consumer Communications. He was also Quality Director and Re-Engineering Leader at Lucent Technologies Consumer Products and at AT&T Microelectronics.
McCusker holds a doctorate in Experimental Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin and an A.B degree in Psychology from Dartmouth College and is a graduate of The Executive Program at the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia.

Stephen Miles
Stephen Miles leads the Web Services WAN Special Interest Group, a research consortium at Auto-ID Labs formed to address requirements for web services specifications to share EPC and sensor data between participants in a collaborative supply chain. Prior to this, Miles was a consultant in value added IP services strategy to service providers. For IronBridge Networks, his team executed beta trials for the first generation core IP MPLS networks for major telecom companies in Europe. Previously, Miles founded Wireless IP Networks and Officenet. He currently participates in several standards organizations and chairs the MIT Enterprise Forum RFID SIG.

Les Neumann
Les Neumann is the Founder and President of Business-Forensics, LLC a consulting company in Rockland County, New York. His firm provides expertise in business development, marketing and technology evaluation to the investment banking community and to senior management of emerging and mid-level technology and high-value niche market companies that leverage his extensive experience in marketing, intellectual property development, product positioning, turnaround management and infrastructure development. Neumann possesses over 20 years experience with established and emerging companies as executive manager, project manager, consultant and advisor, sales and marketing director, infrastructure architect and product developer. He has successfully negotiated joint ventures, OEM and strategic license agreements with multinationals, and has a proven record for identifying new vertical markets and created business cases for new market penetration and dominance. He has extensive experience in R&D project and product planning, management and administration, budget planning and implementation, risk assessment, market prioritization and engagement strategy. His operations management skills include formulation of policies and procedures, business strategy development, P&L management, market identification and trend analysis. In 2001, Neumann was co-founder of a consultancy that acquired selected assets of a virtual reality development company in Connecticut where he served as consulting Chief Operating Officer. VRSim specializes in designing and implementing virtual reality solutions for industrial applications that have been successfully sold to a select client base which include several high-value multi-national aerospace firms and military contractors. Under Neumann's guidance, VRSim was able to attract investment capital, secure development contracts with several prominent firms, and develop new products that are being deployed to provide digital solutions in what have been traditionally hazardous industrial training and maintenance situations. The company has also developed interactive virtual presentations for museums, retail applications, medical and therapeutic environments. Neumann was instrumental in securing strategic partners who work directly with the company to integrate virtual reality solutions as a component of their sales strategies. From 1998 to 2001, Neumann was Vice President and Director of Interactive Technologies for Arcade Marketing's Concepts division where he directed and designed a cadre of products and services to facilitate the integration of electronics and interactive technology into the cosmetic sampling industry. His virtual makeover kiosk for retail applications incorporated digital photography, virtual touch-screen cosmetic application, electronic scent generation, inventory controls along with customer tracking through a cybernet infrastructure. Between 1990 and 1998, he was president of Visual Displays in Fort Lee, NJ, where he implemented sales, marketing and production strategies for the design and production management of temporary and semi-permanent point of purchase displays, kiosks and custom packaging for this 35 year-old company. Between 1983 and 1990, Neumann was Chairman and CEO of Interpreter Communications, Inc., creators of proprietary hardware and software communications based integration and compatibility computer peripherals for the emerging document processing and office automation industries. The company formed strategic OEM, development, sales and licensing relationships with several industry leaders, and attained listing on the NASDAQ exchange. Neumann co-founded the company and achieved capitalization through a series of private placements culminating with an initial public offering.

Shailendra Palvia
Dr. Shailendra C. Jain Palvia is Professor of Management Information Systems at the Long Island University, New York (USA). He received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. He has published over 100 articles in referred journals and refereed proceedings. His research publications are in the areas of management of the systems development process, mode of use in problem solving, implementation issues for MIS/DSS, global information technology, software training methods, global electronic commerce, impact of ERP systems implementation and global IT outsourcing. His work has been published in refereed journals such as Information Resource Management, Communications of the ACM, MIS Quarterly, Information & Management, Journal of Global Information Management, JITCA, International Information Systems, Industrial Management and Data Systems, Journal of Computer Information Systems, and Journal of Information Systems Education.
Dr. Palvia is the co-editor of three books: The Global Issues of IT Management published in 1992; Global IT and Systems Management published in 1996; and Global IT and Global e-Commerce published in 2002. Dr. Palvia is Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Information Technology Cases and Applications (JITCA) since 1999 and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Global Information Technology Management (JGITM) since 1998. He chaired the first, second, third, and fourth international outsourcing (ITO and BPO) conferences held in Atlanta, GA; New York, NY; Dallas, TX, and Washington DC. He has been an invited speaker to Boston (USA), Stuttgart (Germany), Singapore, Mumbai (India), Bangalore (India), Anand (India), Napoli (Italy), St. Petersburgh (Russia), Bangkok (Thailand), and Indore (India). Gene Parrella
Gene Parrella is the Vice President of Integrated Circuit Development for iBiquity Digital in Warren, NJ. In this role, Gene is leading the iBiquity engineering teams that are designing chips and software which enable consumers to receive HD Radio digital AM and FM broadcasts in car, home and portable radios. He has held management and product development roles at TranSwitch Corporation, and holds seven patents in the areas of telecommunications chip and system design. Gene has also held integrated circuit design engineering roles at Fairchild Defense and Allied-Signal Aerospace.
Gene earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and holds an Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University as well as an Executive Masters’ in Technical Management from the Stevens Institute of Technology.

Renu Ramnarayanan
Renu Ramnarayanan is president of Global Focused Strategies, a management consulting company, focusing on supply chain and pricing strategies. Prior industry experience includes ten years as president of Decision Process Management Inc. developing quantitative models in the areas of forecasting, supply chain, marketing planning and pricing. Academic experience includes graduate program development and teaching at several universities including Seton Hall University and Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey. She holds a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the University of Mississippi.

Bharat Rao
Bharat Rao is an Associate Professor of Management and an Othmer Faculty Fellow at Polytechnic University. He earned a Ph.D. in Marketing and Strategic Management from The University of Georgia, and received a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the National Institute of Technology in Calicut, India. Prior to joining Polytechnic, he held a post-doctoral Research Associate position at Harvard Business School in Boston. Recently, he was a visiting faculty researcher at the Center for Advanced Learning Technologies, INSEAD, in Fontainebleau, France. Professor Rao's research has examined the impact of information and communications technologies on multiple industries including retailing, logistics and distribution, supply chain management, wireless and broadband innovation, financial services, entertainment and media. His current research focuses on the diffusion of emerging technologies, business model evolution, the integration of multiple technologies for improving business effectiveness, and global innovation strategy. His research has been published in the International Journal of Electronic Commerce, Communications of the ACM, Journal of Computer Mediated Communications, EM-Electronic Markets, Journal of Media Management, Technology in Society, International Business Review, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and in numerous conference proceedings and book chapters. He is also the author of business case studies published by Harvard Business School, the Institute for Technology and Enterprise, and the European Case Clearing House. His recent research has been funded by NYSTAR (New York State Science Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research), and the Othmer Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies. Professor Rao serves on the Academic Advisory Board of the Harvard-Wharton Merchandising Effectiveness Project, and on the Editorial Board of EM-Electronic Markets. He has been an invited speaker at industry and academic events in the US, Europe, India, Israel and Taiwan, and has taught in graduate and executive management programs at Polytechnic University, Harvard Business School, INSEAD, and Tufts University. He has consulted for firms in the areas of electronic commerce, software, financial services, pharmaceuticals and fashion merchandising.

James Schneidmuller
James (Jim) Schneidmuller is the Program Director of the AT&T Project Management Center of Excellence. His expertise is in the areas of project management, professional and organizational development. During an extensive career with AT&T, specific areas of emphasis have included the creation of several professional project management organizations encompassing the development and deployment of best practices, methodology, tools, and professional expectations as well as the development and creation of a corporate Project Management Center of Excellence. Jim has directly coached and supported large groups of professional Project Managers and major, strategically important and technically complex projects for AT&T. His work has included the development of an executive-level project management briefing and training for middle managers. He delivers an annual, internal Project Management Symposium, which has successfully run for eight consecutive years. Jim was a contributing author to the book Project Management for Business Professionals: A Comprehensive Guide, published by John Wiley & Sons in 2001. The book defines the current state of project management in business and details all of the competencies that constitute a superior practice. He has delivered numerous presentations dealing with various aspects of project management. Aaron Shenhar
Dr. Aaron J. Shenhar is the Institute Professor of Management and the founder of the Project Management Program at Stevens Institute of Technology. He is a member of the science council of NASA for program and project management and a visiting professor at Tel-Aviv University and the Technion in Israel. In 2003 he became the first recipient of the PMI Research Achievement Award and was named “Engineering Manager of the Year,” by the Engineering Management Society of IEEE in 2000. Prior to his academic career, he has been involved in managing projects, innovation, R&D, and high technology businesses for almost 20 years. Working for the Israel defense industry, he participated in all phases of engineering and management -- from project manager up through the highest executive posts. As executive at Rafael, the Armament Development Authority of Israel, he was appointed Corporate Vice President, Human Resources, and later, President of the Electronic Systems Division. In his second career in academia, Dr. Shenhar's work focuses on research, teaching, and consulting in project management, strategic project leadership, technology and innovation management, product development, and the leadership of professionals in technology-based organizations. He is serving as a consultant to major corporations such as 3M, Honeywell, NASA, AT&T, Trane, Dow Jones & Co., US Army, Compaq, BMG Entertainment, Lockheed Martin, and Israel Aircraft Industry. With over 60 refereed articles and more than 150 publications, his writings have influenced project management research and education throughout the world. Dr. Shenhar holds five academic degrees in engineering, statistics, and management, including a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

Donald Siegel
Don Siegel is Professor of Economics and Chair of the Department of Economics at RPI. His primary research interests are the economics of technological change, university technology transfer, productivity analysis, and corporate social responsibility. He has published in many leading journals in these areas and has authored three books, the most recent being “Technological Change and Economic Performance,” Routledge (with Albert Link), 2003. Professor Siegal is editor of the Journal of Technology Transfer. He is also an associate editor of the Journal of Productivity Analysis and an editorial board member of the Journal of Management Studies. Prior to joining RPI, Professor Siegal was assistant professor at SUNY-Stony Brook,
a full professor at Arizona State University, and held a chair in industrial economics at the University of Nottingham (U.K.). He has also been a Faculty Research Fellow of the NBER and an ASA/NSF/BLS Senior Research Fellow. He is President-Elect of the Technology Transfer Society (T2S), which is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and sharing best practices in technology transfer from universities and federal laboratories to firms. Dr. Siegel is also a member of a National Academy of Sciences research team that is conducting a three-year study of the Small Business Innovation Research Program across federal agencies. He received his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from Columbia University.

Denis Fred Simon
Denis Fred Simon is the Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs of the Levin Graduate Institute of International Relations and Commerce under the State University of New York in New York City. Prior to joining the Levin Institute, Dr. Simon served as Dean of the Lally School of Management and Technology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. In his capacity as Dean, Dr. Simon engineered a fundamental re-structuring of the overall MBA curriculum. Dr. Simon also has served as professor of international business strategy and technology management at the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Tufts University (1987-1995) and as the Ford International Professor of Management & Technology at the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1983-1987). Prior to joining Rensselaer, Dr. Simon was President of Monitor Group (China), Managing Director of the Business Strategy and Architecture Innovation Center in Singapore for Scient Corporation, an Associate Partner at Andersen Consulting China, where he served as Director of the China Strategy Group. He was the General Manager for Andersen Consulting’s China practice in Beijing from 1998-1999 and as President of China Consulting Associates (Boston) from 1990 to 1995. He has also has served as a private consultant to numerous Fortune Global 500 firms regarding their business entry and operations in China. Dr. Simon has written and lectured widely regarding innovation, high technology development, foreign investment and corporate strategy in the PacRim and is frequently quoted in the Western and Asian business press regarding commercial and technology trends in China, HK and the Asia-Pacific region. Among his key publications are: Technological Innovation in China [with Detlef Rehn] (Harper Books, 1987), Science and Technology in Post-Mao China [edited with Merle Goldman] (Harvard University Press, 1989), The Emerging Technological Trajectory of the Pacific Rim (ME Sharpe, 1995), Corporate Strategies Towards the Pacific Rim (Routledge, 1996), and Techno-Security in an Age of Globalization (ME Sharpe, 1997). He currently is working on a book-length manuscript dealing with the development of the computer industry in China—1949-2004. He received his M.A. degree in Asian Studies in 1975 and Ph.D. in Political Science in 1980 from the University of California at Berkeley and his B.A. degree in Asian Studies from the State University of New York in 1974. He reads and speaks Mandarin Chinese fluently.

Maryanne Spatola
Over the last two decades, Maryanne Spatola has earned a reputation of excellence in the areas of human and organizational performance. She is a respected and trusted resource to business leaders in many industries.
Maryanne started her career in Information Technology, where she earned a diploma in Computer Programming from The Chubb Institute. During her time at Chubb, she discovered a passion for and expertise at helping people cultivate their talents -- personally and professionally, leading her to join a rapidly growing IT career institution where she combined her technical background with an education focus.

Ted Stohr
Edward A. (Ted) Stohr is Associate Dean for Research and Academics at the Howe School of Technology Management, Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey. His research interests are centered on the problems of developing computer systems to support work and decision making in organizations. He is the editor of two books on decision support systems and has published articles in many leading journals. Prior to coming to Stevens, Professor Stohr was a Professor at the Stern School of Business at New York University and prior to that, he was an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University. For the period 1984-95 Professor Stohr served as Chairman of the Information Systems Department at Stern. Until recently, he was Director of the Center for Research in Information Systems at the Stern School. In 1992, Professor Stohr served as chairman of the executive board of the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS). A founding member of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), Professor Stohr served on the program committee of the first AIS conference held in Pittsburgh, in August 1995. He is on the editorial boards of a number of journals including the Journal of Information Systems Research, Information Systems Frontiers, the International Journal of Decision Support Systems, and The Journal of Management Information Systems. He is also Editor-at-Large for the Association of Information System’s electronic journals, Communications of the AIS and Journal of the AIS. He was guest editor, for special issues on Decision Support Systems of the Journal of Management Information Systems (1986 and 1987) for a special issue of Management Information Systems Quarterly on IS Curricula and Pedagogy in 1995. More recently, he was co-editor for special issues on workflow automation in Information Systems Frontiers (2001) and Business Process Management (2003).Professor Stohr has also acted as consultant to a number of major corporations.
Professor Stohr holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Melbourne University, Australia, and M.B.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Information Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Ethne Swartz
Ethne Swartz, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurial Studies at FDU holds a Ph.D. in Management from The Manchester School of Management, University of Manchester Science and Technology Institute, Manchester, England. She holds a BA (Hons) in Sociology from Rhodes University, South Africa and a BA in Sociology/ Psychology from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Her research and teaching interests include entrepreneurship and innovation, management of technology, business continuity and crisis management. From 1994 to October 1999 Dr. Swartz taught Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship at Leicester Business School, DeMontfort University in Leicester, England, where she was instrumental in setting up a center for research into business continuity management. Her work has been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals and she has presented at national and international conferences. Prior to her academic career Dr. Swartz was recruited as a Graduate-in-Training by General Motors (South Africa) and as Personnel Officer by Kodak (South Africa).

Andrew Varanelli, Jr
Dr. Andrew Varanelli, Jr. is a professor of management and management science at the Lubin School of Business. He is also the Lubin School's Director of Technology and Information Systems. An authority on the use of technology to support the instructional process in higher education, Dr. Varanelli has acted as a consultant for organizations such as New York State Division of the Budget, AT&T International Division, Nippon Telephone and Telegraph of North America, CBS, and The Care Group. In addition, he has co-authored three textbooks and a text on quantitative methods in management that became available in Fall 1998. Dr. Varanelli is the author of articles in numerous journals, including Transportation Research Record and Public Personnel Management, and serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Total Quality Management. Dr. Varanelli is currently introducing an Internet-based global strategic management simulation for use in the Lubin School's graduate and undergraduate programs. This innovative simulation is intended to provide students with international strategic decision-making experience.

David Weber
David A. Weber is Director of Corporate Relations for the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he has responsibility for developing and maintaining a wide variety of corporate partnerships with industry which support research, education and student organizations. His activities also include a heavy focus on supporting life sciences initiatives within MIT Sloan, including the new MIT Center for Biomedical Innovation (CBI), as well as other research and educational activities focused in the life sciences.
Prior to this role, and for the past six of his twenty years at MIT, he has been Director of the MIT Management of Technology (MOT) Program, a 12-month Master’s Program in Management for mid-career executives with strong technical backgrounds who are preparing to develop, build and lead technology-intensive businesses. He also served as Co-Director of the new Sloan Fellows Program in Innovation and Global Leadership, a strategic integration of the MOT and Sloan Fellows Programs which have been the pillars of Executive Education at the Sloan School for many years. Prior to directing the MOT Program, Mr. Weber has served as Director of the MBA Program, Director of Educational Services, and Director of Student Services at the Sloan School, along with a number of other student services positions at MIT. He has also played significant roles in two major double-degree programs which integrate MIT Sloan with other departments at MIT: the Biomedical Enterprise Program and the Leaders for Manufacturing Program. His current professional interests include entrepreneurship, innovation, corporate venturing, industry partnerships, and executive education.
Before returning to MIT in 1986, Mr. Weber enjoyed a successful career for nearly ten years with the Delco Moraine Division of the General Motors Corporation, where he held various positions in manufacturing management and forward planning. While employed at General Motors as an undergraduate, Mr. Weber was selected as a GM Scholar at the University of Wisconsin, where he received his BS in Industrial Engineering in 1979. Later in his career, he was also selected as a GM Fellow at the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he received his SM in Management in 1983. Weber also earned the EdM from Harvard University in 1992, where he concentrated in Higher Education Administration. Upon graduation from MIT, he was awarded the Seley Scholarship, the highest award granted to a graduating MIT Sloan student. Weber was also awarded the Theodore Herfurth Scholarship at the University of Wisconsin, and was the Wisconsin finalist for the Harry S. Truman National Award. Recently, Weber was selected as a Susan Vogt Fellow by the Boston Consortium for Higher Education.
Mr. Weber is married with one daughter, and enjoys ocean sailing, golf, and snow skiing, along with many other sports and outdoor activities. He serves on the Visiting Committee for the University of Wisconsin Industrial and Systems Engineering Department, the board of the Technology Management Education Association,, and the board of Junior Achievement of Massachusetts, in addition to other committees and advisory activities within MIT. |

Nina Ziv
Nina D. Ziv is an Industry Associate Professor in the Department of Management of Polytechnic University in New York City and serves as Co-Director of the Executive Master's Management Degree Programs at Polytechnic. Professor Ziv is also the Academic Director of the Institute for Technology and Enterprise [ITE], the Department’s research and learning hub, where she is leading the strategic initiative on content innovation. Before joining Polytechnic University, Professor Ziv spent 15 years in the technology industry. She was a Vice President of Technology Strategy and Planning at Merrill Lynch in New York City where she spearheaded many innovative leading edge technology projects such as the development of Merrill's corporate intranet. Professor Ziv holds a B.A. and Ph.D. from New York University. Professor Ziv has been a Guest Lecturer at the London Business School's Executive Program held at Harvard University and at the Beijing Institute of Technology. She has been an invited speaker at the MIT Research Forum in Tel Aviv, Israel, at Forrester's Research Forum on the Financial Services Industry and at various academic conferences in Israel, Taiwan, Beijing, Vienna, and Sydney. She has designed and chaired several events for the Institute for Technology and Enterprise on a variety of issues including wireless innovation; the role of the professional manager in an entrepreneurial environment; the transformation of large established businesses such as the book publishing business; and the emerging biotechnology industry in Israel. She also developed curriculum materials on the challenges facing firms and industries in the post-September 11 business environment. Professor Ziv’s major research interests are in the areas of content innovation and wireless innovation. In the area of content innovation, her research focuses on digital-based and mobile content innovation and the challenges managers face when integrating such innovations into their firms and sectors. She has published case studies on The Chicagotribune.com, a successful example of hybrid (digital and physical) content innovation; the Walt Disney Company; Arvato Mobile, a mobile content integrator in Germany as well as published articles about the impact of New Media on the book publishing industry. She has also been conducting research on various aspects of wireless innovation including the emergence of mobile social networking and the increasing importance of users as a source of innovation on this platform. Professor Ziv is also interested in the restructuring of industries as a result of digital-based innovations and the impact of this restructuring on the development of urban centers of creativity and innovation such as New York City.
